The project Elderly homeless, made in the Municipality of Bologna, aims to ensure legal protection for the elderly and homeless in severe social marginalization, in order to promote the recognition of rights and access to social reintegration paths.

To this end, a counter will be built in which will be provided to recipients free legal advice and assistance. For optimum operation the door will be networked with the main services aimed at senior citizens and operators will benefit from a core of volunteers who will care to facilitate user access to the counters through processes of disclosure, orientation, direct mailing and accompanying.

The aim of the project is to raise awareness and inform about the issue of elderly people in conditions of marginalization and the protection of rights; for this purpose will be made a popular publication.

The framework

The only figure of the elderly is characterized by particularly fragile: without income or with a minimum income and does not have a family network, are often in isolation, poverty and social deprivation.

The theme of the frail elderly is the subject of particular attention and is reflected in a varied type of services in the welfare. However, there is a band of elderly people who gravitate to the outside of any possibility of access to such services and such, on the grounds that are homeless, no one feels called to take charge.

Innovative aspects and experimental

The project also proposes a new approach to the problem of the frail elderly, focusing its attention on a group of people who, while expressing the difficult socio-emotional and relational health-typical of old age, are in the condition of not being able to access basic services and living condition, the isolation and the road just, prohibitive in relation to their psycho-physical age-related.
