The project "Street Lawyer", realized for the first time as part of the Friends of the Piazza Grande, Born in Bologna at the end of 2000, with the basic objective of protecting the rights of homeless people. The experience was born from the need, felt by many, to ensure a supply of legal expertise to those citizens objectively deprived of their fundamental rights.

Activity of the branches involved in rotation lawyers provide free legal advice and assistance to citizens without residence, as well as volunteers who deal with the secretarial and office management.

Other lawyers, also, while not directly participating in the activity of the door, give their free availability to sponsor one or two cases a year on the homeless.

Among the prospects of the Association is to open doors "Street Lawyer" in the main Italian cities where homeless people reside.

In 2001 Street Lawyer Fivol won the prize as best Italian project for the homeless.

In 2007 Lawyer of the road has signed a memorandum of understanding with UNAR “Office for the promotion of equal treatment and removal of discrimination based on race or ethnic origin” established at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Rights and Equal Opportunity.

From 2008 The Association is a member of fioPSD, Italian Federation of Organizations for Homeless People.
